Zirong Liu is a researcher and leader of the research group of the center for excellence and innovation in brain science and intelligent technology (Institute of Neuroscience), Chinese Academy of Sciences. He studied in Kunming Institute of zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences from 2009 to 2012, with a master's degree. From 2012 to 2016, he studied at the Queensland Brain Institute (qbi) of the University of Queensland, Australia, with a doctorate. From 2016 to 2019, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institutes of health's Institute of neurological diseases and stroke (NINDS/NIH). From 2019 to 2020, he worked as an assistant professor of research at the University of Pittsburgh. In August 2020, he will be a researcher in the Institute of neuroscience, Chinese Academy of Sciences. As the first author or corresponding author, Dr. Liu has published a number of high-level academic papers in Nature Neuroscience, Nature Communications, National Science Review, NeuroImage and other journals.

His research interests mainly include: using non-human primates(marmosets)as animal models, developing brain mapping tools based on magnetic resonance imaging, combined with pharmacological interference, electrophysiology, optical imaging, photogenetics and behavior monitoring(marmosetbrainmapping.org)to study the structural and functional basis and physiological mechanism of brain network and brain connection, as well as the non-human primate brain disease model ,The imaging features and pathological mechanism were analyzed.
